Sunday 25th January 2015, was a special day for us, the long awaited and
most anticipated event of the year as part and parcel of our tradition
was upon us and what a way to kick off the year with an AGM which later
culminated into a Bash.
Members of St Patrick’s Youth-Thika come out in large numbers at the 14
Falls Lodge in Thika located off Garissa Rd this venue provided ample
space for the various activities planned for the day and not even the
scorching “Njaanuary” sun could dampen their spirits, food and drinks
were available in plenty, the entertainment was on point members also
got a chance to show case their swimming skills as the dived into the
pool to cool off after a tedious first part of the day that was
dominated with slaughtering of the mbuzi and preparing food.
The highlight of the was the speeches delivered by the invited guests
among them various youth leaders from our neighboring parish such as St.
Matia Mulumba-Thika, Holy Rosary Witeithie, St Francis Xavier-Parklands
and Murang’a Deanery every leader called upon the youth to keep the
commitment alive and yearn to continue serving God through various gifts
and talents and also in attendance was our Patron Stano Njiiri, Parish
Council Treasurer Madam Kellen Wanja who spoke addressed the youth on
behalf of the Church Council and Mrs Njenge who spoke on behalf of the
parents.
Rev Fr Silferius (Chaplain) also offered his word of advice to the
youth, and called upon them to be risk takers,
“I urge all of you seated
here today in 2015 to be risk takers, try something new and different
just like we read in the bible, disciples were ready to follow Christ
and left everything they were doing.”
